Why we built it
Guidebooks go out of date the moment they're printed. Group tours run on someone else's schedule. And the best stories about a place — the history, the culture, the little tips locals take for granted — are scattered across a dozen tabs you'll never have time to read while you're standing in front of the monument itself.
HappyTrails started with a simple idea: what if every traveler could have a knowledgeable local friend on call, anywhere in the world? One who knows the history of the cathedral you just walked past, can point you to the best photo angle, and remembers every place you wanted to visit — organized into a plan that actually fits your days.
Today HappyTrails does exactly that. GPS-powered discovery surfaces attractions, museums, parks, and landmarks near you. AI-generated guides cover history, culture, food, and practical tips for each one — and every section can be narrated aloud so you can keep your eyes on the world instead of your screen. Saved places become day-by-day itineraries with distances between stops, weather, packing lists, and a share link your travel companions can open without an account.

How HappyTrails works
Place data comes from Google's global places database, so ratings, photos, opening hours, and locations stay current.
Guides and narration are generated by modern AI models and written to sound great read aloud — overview, history, tips, culture, food, and photo spots for every place.
Trips are yours: private by default, shareable by link when you choose, and publishable to Explore Trips if you want other travelers to copy your plan.
